8/23/2023 0 Comments Street fighter 6 beta tier list![]() ![]() Also in Chinatown, unsurprisingly, is Chun-Li, who you can become a disciple of. Instead of offering these guys out for a fight, they'll start on you if you get too close, sometimes resulting in big, multi-person battles. From everything I saw, it definitely looked as though he had all the tools that would make him great in Street Fighter 6, on paper, but in action those things just fell short of the mark. The new star of the game, Luke, is your first master and walks you through this first section, so you start with his fireball and dragon punch abilities.Īfter the demo area, you head out to Chinatown – a dense, highly-detailed area where a crime gang who wear paper bags on their heads are much more aggressive than the opponents faced before. There's a lot going on with the first woman of fighting games nowadays, and I believe her ceiling was/is just too high for anyone to unlock her real potential or even want to attempt doing so in such a short time frame.Īs for Luke, he is the character I saw the least of and feel as though the general consensus on him was that he was the worst in the test. That's not to say she was bad, as she does have some strong tools at her disposal, but even her usage felt low for such a highly popular character indicating that her strength might not have been there during the test.Ĭhun-Li is a special case in that I don't necessarily think she is weak in Street Fighter 6, but her being as technical as she is now held her back from being accessible enough to make a real impact. While some players felt Juri was among the best in the beta and I did feel like her Street Fighter 6 iteration is the best version of her we've seen so far, I just didn't see her making that much of an impact overall. It's not a major one, but it felt like the rest of the playable beta characters just didn't quite cut it as much as the ones above them. While both characters were certainly very good in the beta, I feel like Jamie had many more options and much more room for growth that just wasn't realized due to the short time frame, and Kimberly is a fighter that had success up front, but got a bit weaker as players started to figure out her counters.Īfter B tier is where I feel the drop off happens. These two characters are the ones I got most experience with - the former fighting against and the latter playing as. Next we have Jamie and Kimberly in B tier. It's worth noting that all three of the A rankers were very close in terms of strength, in my opinion, sitting elbow to elbow in their category. The Street Fighter poster boy not only came equipped with a tool for seemingly every situation, but many of these tools seemed really good, and Ryu also had some of the most damaging combos in the entire beta. Ryu also proved to be a strong contender in the beta, seeing some of the most usage among top ranked players throughout the weekend. He also happened to be the most used character in the top 20 and top 50 of the highest ranked fighters who participated in the beta, which leads me to believe he earned the #2 spot on the tier list. Not far behind him is Ken, who has incredibly strong combos and great damage output. Not only does the US Air Force soldier have exceptional zoning capabilities in Street Fighter 6, but his combo-ability, normals, damage, and nearly all facets of his playstyle seemed really strong during the beta.Ĭouple this with the fact that the #1 ranked player on the leaderboards who amassed over 26,000 LP mained Guile the entire time and you have who I felt was the best during the test. Let's start off in A tier with the character I think was the best overall - Guile. We'll get to that a little later, though. That being said, I do think that some characters stood above the rest and that there exists a drop off point that separates the better fighters from the not as good. That's because after getting in the time that I did and seeing what other players were doing, I don't feel like any characters were over the top strong and too good. To kick things off, you might notice that I don't have any of Street Fighter 6's beta characters in S rank. I also aimed to judge these characters within the bubble of the beta, meaning I'm ranking them based on how effective they were during that test specifically and not how I think they'll fair come launch. Naturally, this was a three day beta test, so my opinions and analysis here have been made with the fact that it was a limited window in mind.
